My son has perfect pitch and perfect timing
now don't ask me what that means except that his piano teacher (when he was a boy)
wanted to take him back to Shanghai Conservatorium with her
and no we didn't let her!!!!
Unfortunately a later teacher destroyed his love of playing!
but he can play any tune by ear and almost any instrument once you show him how!!!!!!
I also have two young cousins
Stephen Lindsay
was one of the winners of the Abbey road Anthem competition and you can hear his entry
played by the London Symphony Orchestra
it is just amazing and after I listen to it it runs in my head for the rest of the day, very happily!
and then
Tabatha McFadyen
Tabatha is still studying but I think she will be a force to be reckoned with in the musical world before too long.
What I would like to know is with all this musical talent (and it runs on both sides of the family)
Why
I, who loves music with a passion
can not sing one single note in tune!!!!!
Can you?
All those gifts are a wonder, but the world needs people with the gift of appreciation too - and I think that would be you!
ReplyDeleteI, too, come from a family of musicians and performers. I can sing - but I stick to lullabies and nursery rhymes and moments when I'm alone in the car.
Oh dear I sing alone in the car too!!!! But only because no one will travel with me when I am singing..I understand they find it very painful...always sounds good to me!!!!!!
DeleteWOW! Tab is just amazing! As is Stephen! Perhaps they should join forces and write something beautiful! xxx
ReplyDeleteand wouldn't Aunty Cec have loved that!
DeleteBut truly they are both sooo talented and I don't think is the last we will hear of either of them! xxx
I am amazed with people that have musical talents - I have no idea how and cannot sing for the life of me - this is just awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a sunshiny day,
Axxx
My family is all amazingly talented and my talent is, as Pondside said, to appreciate them all!!!! I love your blog so thank you for coming and introducing yourself. We will meet again!
DeleteDearest Julienne,
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for your genetics you should search in the 3rd line; your grandparents and great- uncles and aunts. That will give you a clue. So with already 4 grandparents you have quite some influences and there might be a line that is not very musical... But enjoy the talents of your relatives! We cannot all be the very same. You have a way with writing and other gifts.
Love to you,
Mariette
Mariette, my entire family is magically talented, all in their own ways
Deleteand I just love to show them all off. Which is what I am doing here!
I would love to be able to sing but as I can't I just enjoy the music of others! Thank you for your kind words. xx
We would appear to have a language problem but Manoli your blog is just beautiful so thank you for introducing yourself. I have translated your comment below so others can visit you too,
ReplyDelete"I found your blog and I love their content. From today I still, if you want to invite you to visit my blog and if you like it, I would like to have you as a follower on my blog to keep in touch. With warm regards. Manoli".
Just exceptional, both of them. You should be rightly proud. And no, I can't sing either...but it doesn't stop me! Have a wonderful weekend Julienne x
ReplyDeleteOh Kerry aren't they just so talented! Tabby makes the hairs on my arms stand up when she sings and she flew from far away just to sing Amazing Grace for Top! It was the most extraordinary moment as I swear he was listening too!!!!

DeleteSee Manoli I have translated you for everyone else too! We are being very clever! Jules
Oh I'm the same! My mother's family are amazing singers, and at every party there is always a sing-song (they're Irish) and I always stand off in the corner mouthing the words because I don't want to ruin it!
ReplyDeleteSara I am the same but I did sing with a choir in an eisteddfod to make up the numbers and we won but my goodness the fella standing next to me gave me a really hard time because I actually sang, though very quietly and he insisted I had completely thrown him off!!!!
Deletethis post brings up all kinds of feelings for me.
ReplyDeletei was also the kid with perfect pitch etc etc.
my father was a musician and night club owner-
he kept upping the teachers until i was permanently PUT OFF.
this is a sad situation for extreme creatives.
to have an 'ear' is such a gift - or a curse.
you have a stunning talent coming up in this world!!
xx
In another life, I will sing like Joan Baez. In this life, I sing like a frog.
ReplyDeleteUna preciosa voz ¡felicidades!!!
