classic fashion always in style...!!!

I have not posted fashion before
but with the loss of 26 kilos (57 lbs)
i am finding clothes rather appealing again
and have put away the larger sizes
(in case I grow into them again!)
and am dressing in my now vintage pieces I had put away
a few years ago!!!!!

when it came time to buy a new wardrobe I trotted of to Country Road

only to discover that it no longer carried the classic clothing that I had always loved

but
and I always have a BUT!!!!!!

the lovely young salesgirl suggested I might like their other store!

and so I discovered trenery
and there was my style!

I suppose I could try to style up a bit
but it is these classic lines that seem to suit me
and that I feel comfortable in so
I did have a lovely time playing
and walked off with quite a bit!

It is rather fun being a size 10 (Aust) again!!!!

Do you like the classic look?
or do you like to play with your fashion choices?

  2. Dearest Jules,

So probably we could swap some clothes as I wear a size 8 or 10 in some cases, depending on the fabric. Both of us went to Florida, driving all the way to Miami (1,000 km one way) and stayed at the Hyatt House (apartment with kitchen and all) when we did some shopping. I was telling my husband that for our age, they don't make much anymore... Mostly they aim at the younger group of buyers; not us. Like you, I love the more classic style, it is timeless and more elegant.
Hope you are quite happy with your new wardrobe and enjoy it for coming winter.
    Love to you,
    Mariette

    1. Oh Mariette we will just airmail an outfit a week to each other!!!!!!!!
My Grandmother had a lovely expression, when she thought someone was not dressed age appropriately, 'Mutton dressed as lamb!!' I rather think she would be saying it to me about some of the things I am now wearing!!!!!! xx

  4. Congratulations, Jules! nothing is harder than losing weight (well, maybe quitting smoking!) but it is surely the key to a better and longer life. Very happy for you. And a few new clothes is a great reward. Classic clothing looks so good on most women. Hope you find something neat!

  7. Congratulations Jules! When we return home will need to go on a serious diet. Have been enjoying too many naughty things, including at La Closerie des Lilas today and the weight is starting to go on despite all the walking. The clothes you've chosen look great and will be so good on your size 10. Not sure about the "mutton dressed as lamb thing". Certainly the clothes you've shown don't fit into that category, they're really cool. But I do love quite eccentric outfits too, and have fallen in love with a book called "Advanced Style" by Ari Seth Cohen with fabulous pictures of wonderful women of 60 plus (many in 70s, 80s and yes even 90s) of all shapes and sizes who have spirit and courage and independent style. I bought it in Paris a couple of days ago but hopefully it will reach Australian bookstores. Best wishes,
    Pamela
